Orihuela Costa

A description of what to do and see

South of Torrevieja, side by side, you will find Orihuela Costa. Orihuela Costa is a satellite town of Orihuela. Orihuela town is located around 20 kilometres inland, with several municipalities in between.

It’s hard to tell exactly how many people who are living in Orihuela Costa. In 2016 there were around 33.000 inhabitants. However, the number of staying on short or longer term is way higher. Many people who has a holiday home in Orihuela Costa might be spending most of the year in Spain, but are not registered as residents.

Orihuela Costa does not have a city centre. Orihuela Costa is a huge area with several suburb areas such as Punta Prima, Playa Flamenca, La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Campoamor, Villamartin and Los Altos. In Orihuela Costa you will furthermore find 4 golf courses, including the award winning Las Colinas Golf & Country Club.

Below you will find a description of the different areas and popular places to go such as the huge shopping centre, Zenia Boulevard.


Punta Prima

Promenades and beach

Punta Prima is actually both found in Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa. When driving from Torrevieja towards Orihuela Costa the round about in Punta Prima is where Torrevieja ends and Orihuela Costa Starts. Here you will find lovely promenades, beach bars and of course the beach. By the N-332 you will find a number of great restaurants as well as the Punta Prima Restaurant right on the sea front.


Playa Flamenca

Beaches and market

South of Punta Prima you will find Playa Flamenca. Playa Flamenca is an area with a bit of everything. On the sea front you will find a beautiful square with palmtrees and a promenade that will take you all the way to Campoamor. Furthermore is it also the area where you will find a street market every Saturday with local fresh fruits and vegetables and much more.


La Zenia

Centre of Orihuela Costa?

South of Playa Flamenca you will find La Zenia. Apart from having one of the most popular beaches in the area “Playa La Zenia”, you will also find the extremely popular shopping centre, Zenia Boulevard. Orihuela Costa doesn’t have a town centre. However, if people were to choose one, it would probably be the area around Zenia Boulevard with lots of supermarkets, shops and the motorway near by.


Cabo Roig

A pyramid and "The Strip"

South of La Zenia you will find Cabo Roig. When driving from La Zenia you know when you have reached the Cabo Roig round-about. The pyramid inside the round-about tells you, that you have arrived. In Cabo Roig you will find one of the nicest stretches on the promenade from Playa Flamenca to Campoamor. Along the N-332 you will find the popular “Cabo Roig Strip” with restaurants, bars, cafees and much more.



A Spanish paradise

Through out the area of Costa Blanca you will find lots of Spaniards with their private holiday homes. In Campoamor you will find more than anywhere else in Orihuela Costa. By tradition lots of Families from Murcia have had their holiday homes for decades. Here you will find kilometres of white sand beaches, a marina and lots of typical Spanish restaurants.



Green and hilly

Crossing the motorway from for example La Zenia, and you will come to Villamartin. Villamartin is a big area with different neighbourhoods such as Los Dolses, Pau-1, Valencia, El Presidente, Las Violetas and many more. The area is much more hilly then on the beach side of the motorway – and due much more green as well. Here you will find minor shopping areas with supermarkets and lots of restaurants.



Not one but four...

In Orihuela Costa you will find four different golf courses – and yet very close to each other. The oldest, Villamartin was build back in 1972 and has hosted big tournaments in the past. Campoamor golf course is quite wide and playable for all handicaps. Las Ramblas is a true challenge. Blind tee shots, dog-legs and very hills is the description for Las Ramblas. Finally Las Colinas, which was opened a few years back. Las Colinas has already won several awards and is hosting lots of prestigious tournaments.



All in one place

A few years back, Orihuela Costa opened its municipal sports area. Here you will find a football pitch with articial grass, two multi courts, two tennis courts and three paddle tennis courts. Furthermore, you will find a gym and an indoor swimming pool. The sports area is located in Playa Flamenca, close to La Zenia, Zenia Boulevard and Villamartin.



A lot of them...

In Orihuela Costa you will find an all-year tourism. This tourism has created a huge industry for restaurants of all kind. In Orihuela Costa you will find lots of restaurants on the sea-front. You can’t take the view from them. But inland you will also find lots of great restaurants. Many restaurants offers “Menu del dia” (Menu of the day) with great variety, lovely food and at attractive prices.
